The Evolution Of Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits have always been in vogue around the globe since it was first designed. Today, it is one of the most envious pieces of wardrobe for any fashionista. But where did it all began? If we want to trace back the history of jumpsuits, we would have to go back 97 years back in 1919 when the first jumpsuit was designed by Florentine Thayat. EXIN Fashion brings for you the evolution of jumpsuits since its birth.
Jumpsuits were originally intended for professionals in aviation, parachuting and race car driving. Sportsmen like skiers and skydivers, would wear them (and still do) for protection from various elements. They were liberating and revolutionary in comparison to other garments that were worn during that time. Auto mechanics and plumbers also like the practicality of jumpsuits, and they were also favored as prison garb throughout USA and Canada.
Pop Culture contributed a lot towards the popularity of jumpsuits. Janet Leigh and David Bowie led the way for popularizing jumpsuits in the 1950s and 1970s respectively. Music legends Elvis Presley, Mick Jagger, Freddy Mercury, Aaliyah, Spice Girls and Britney spears featured in some of the most iconic jumpsuits in their music videos and stage performances.
Designers Donna Karan, Marc Jacobs, Reem Acra, Emilio Pucci, among others have left the fashion world in awe with their high fashion and edgy jumpsuit designs.
Globally, Google searches for jumpsuits have risen steadily over the past three years, with a peak at the beginning of each summer.

Considered to be one of the most utilitarian pieces of clothing, jumpsuits have come a long way in the fashion glossary. For resort, it offers not only easy one-piece dressing for day, but also a chic option for evening.
